Zayland Edwards
Ten year old Zayland Edwards flourished at his first Halberg Games in 2019.
The Takanini School student has a vision impairment, connecting with Halberg Adviser Kerrie Blackmoore for an Activity Fund grant for swimming lessons.
As well as attending the Halberg Games, he was also a regular through the 10-week Halberg Foundation and Blind Sports NZ Matariki Programme.
During the Halberg Games, Zayland pushed himself in sports he was experiencing for the first time. His Nana Freda was his biggest cheerleader on the sideline, and he was also supported by Halberg Manaakitanga leader Waima Mokaraka.
